Selling a webinar

A webinar on Klixey is an Event product with a single dated slot. Customers sign up (free or paid), get a calendar invite, get reminded 24 hours and 2 hours out, and join your live session from the link you provide.

Quick answer

Create an Event product, add one dated slot, write the join link into the location field, set a price (or leave it free), publish, then test the sign-up flow with a second email. Klixey sends the confirmation email, the calendar invite, and the reminder emails. You handle the live room.

Before you start

You'll have an easier time if these are already in hand:

  • A Klixey account on any plan. See Klixey plans at a glance.
  • A confirmed date, time, and timezone for the live session.
  • A working video meeting link (Zoom, Google Meet, or anything that gives you a URL).
  • A working camera and microphone in the room you'll broadcast from.
  • If you'll charge for it, Stripe connected on your workspace. → Connecting Stripe.

The playbook

1. Create the event product

Open Products, pick Add product, and choose Event. Set the title, the duration, your timezone, the location (paste your video meeting link here), and the seats per slot.

Creating an event

2. Add the first slot

A slot is a single date and time. For a one-off webinar, you'll only need one. Open Slots and add it — date, start time, capacity if it's different from the default.

3. Set the price

Open Pricing. A webinar can be free (great as a lead-generating event) or paid (one-time only — events don't support subscriptions).

4. Write the checkout copy

This is the page someone reads before signing up. Lead with what they'll walk away with, not the agenda. Three bullets of outcomes beats a wall of text.

Editing checkout and confirmation copy

5. Write the confirmation copy

After someone signs up, they land on a confirmation page and get a confirmation email with the calendar invite. Use the confirmation copy to:

  • Repeat the date and time with a clear timezone — see the tip below.
  • Tell them to expect a reminder 24 hours and 2 hours out.
  • Tell them to add it to their calendar right now (the invite is attached).
  • Optional: ask them to reply with a question they want answered live.

Timezone clarity is everything

"9am ET" means nothing to half your audience. Write it in plain language across regions: "9am New York · 2pm London · 6am Los Angeles." Do this in the checkout copy, the confirmation copy, and any social posts.

6. (Optional) Bundle it into a membership

If this webinar is one of a series, build a Membership that includes all the events. Members get every webinar without paying for each one individually.

7. Publish

Flip the product from Draft to Listed. The event now shows up on your storefront and the sign-up URL goes live.

Product status

8. Test the sign-up flow

Sign up for your own webinar with a different email address. Confirm:

  • The confirmation email arrived.
  • The calendar invite was attached and opens cleanly.
  • The video meeting link in the invite works.
  • The 24-hour and 2-hour reminders are described correctly. (You won't see them fire yet — that's normal.)

What customers see at the end

After all that, here's the path a sign-up walks:

  1. They land on your storefront, click the event card, and hit the sign-up page.
  2. They sign up (with or without payment) and immediately see a confirmation page.
  3. They get a confirmation email with a calendar invite attached — one click adds it to their calendar.
  4. 24 hours before, Klixey sends a reminder email.
  5. 2 hours before, Klixey sends a final reminder with the join link front and centre.
  6. They click the link at the start time and you're live.

Event reminders

Common things to tighten before you launch

Run through this quick checklist on the day you publish:

  • [ ] Timezone is spelled out in plain language ("9am New York · 2pm London") in the checkout and confirmation copy.
  • [ ] The video meeting link in the event location is correct — paste it into a fresh browser tab to confirm.
  • [ ] Camera, mic, and screen-share work in the room you'll broadcast from. Test the actual setup.
  • [ ] Capacity feels right — too tight and you'll sell out and miss sales; too loose and a thin room looks empty.
  • [ ] You have a backup plan if the video service drops. (At minimum: a second link ready to share via email.)
  • [ ] The confirmation copy tells customers what to expect between sign-up and the live session.

If the link in the event location changes, update the product before reminders go out

The 24h and 2h reminder emails pull the join link from the event location field at send time. If you change the link the morning of, the new link goes out in the 2-hour reminder.

After launch

A few things to know once people start signing up:

  • The attendee list lives on the slot. Open the slot to see who's coming. → Managing event slots
  • Emailing attendees — Klixey doesn't have a built-in "email all attendees" button yet. To send a one-off (e.g. a last-minute room change), open the slot, copy the email addresses, and send from your own email tool.
  • Cancelling a slot — if you need to cancel, the cancellation flow emails every confirmed attendee automatically. Refunds (for paid events) are handled separately. → Managing event slots · Refunds, failed payments, and disputes
  • In-app notifications — Klixey rings the bell on every sign-up. → In-app notifications
  • Income — paid sign-ups land in your income dashboard in real time. → Income

Want to follow up after the webinar?

The attendee list doubles as a lead list. Each sign-up becomes a contact in your customer list — you can filter for "signed up for this event" later and reach out with the replay, a discount, or a next-step product. → Customer list
