Lesson resources
Any lesson can carry downloadable files alongside its video or audio: a worksheet, the slide deck, a template, a checklist, the sample project. In the editor they're called Attachments; students see them as Lesson resources on the lesson page.
Quick answer
Open a lesson in the course editor and scroll to Attachments below the lesson media. Drag files in or click to pick them. Rename, reorder, and remove them from the same list. Students get a Lesson resources card on the lesson page.
Add a file
- Open the course from Products and click the lesson in the outline.
- Find the Attachments section in the lesson editor.
- Drop a file onto it, or click to browse.
The upload runs in your browser and shows a progress bar. You can keep editing the lesson while it goes, and everything autosaves — there's no Save button.
Don't close the tab mid-upload
Like course videos, attachment uploads run in the browser. Navigating away before one finishes cancels it, and you'll need to start that file again.
What you can attach
| Documents | PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT |
| Spreadsheets | XLS, XLSX, CSV |
| Slides | PPT, PPTX |
| Images | PNG, JPG, GIF |
| Archives | ZIP |
| Max size | 100 MB per file |
| Max per lesson | 20 files |
Audio and video don't go here. Use the lesson's media control instead — it streams them properly and tracks student progress, which a download can't. See Lesson media.
SVG isn't accepted, because SVG files can carry scripts.
If you need to ship something that isn't on this list, put it in a ZIP.
Rename, reorder, remove
Each attachment in the list has controls on its row:
- Rename — the name students see. Give it a real one.
Module 2 workbook.pdfbeatsfinal_v3_USE_THIS.pdf. - Move up / Move down — the order here is the order students see.
- Download — grab your own copy to check you uploaded the right file.
- Remove — deletes the file and frees the storage.
Renaming changes the display name only; the file itself is untouched.
What students see
A Lesson resources card appears on the lesson page, below the lesson content and the Mark as complete button. Each file is a row they click to download.
Only enrolled students can download. The links are generated per request and are tied to the student's access — someone who shares one with a non-student isn't handing over a working link. If access to the course ends, the resources go with it.
Storage
Attachments count toward your workspace storage, the same as uploaded videos and images. If a file would push you over your cap, Klixey blocks it before the upload starts and points you at your plan.
Removing an attachment frees its storage. See Storage usage.
Getting the most out of them
- One resource per lesson beats ten. A single well-named worksheet gets used; a pile of files gets ignored.
- Name the file for the outcome, not the format. "Pricing calculator" over "Spreadsheet 1".
- PDF for anything you don't want edited. DOCX and XLSX for anything you want them to fill in.
- Put the big stuff in one ZIP rather than a dozen separate rows.
