Changelog

Weekly notes on what's new in Klixey: features, improvements, fixes, and anything that changes how you or your customers use the platform.

This is the public log

We post the changes that matter to creators here. For live system status (incidents, maintenance), see the status page.

Breaking changes are flagged

If a change affects something you've already set up — pricing, the Store editor, custom domains, customer access — it's flagged with a Breaking change callout at the top of that entry. We also call out relevant changes in the welcome and renewal emails customers receive, so they're not surprised either.

Recent releases

September 1, 2026

New

  • Personalize emails with a contact's own details — Drop First name, Email address, or your Store name into a marketing email and each contact receives their own version. Variables work in the body of campaigns, automation emails, and templates, and in the subject and preheader of campaigns and automation emails. Insert them from the { } button; they appear as a chip you can click to edit rather than as raw text you have to type correctly. See Personalize the email.
  • First name always carries a fallback — Because a stored name isn't always usable as a first name — it can be blank, an email address, or a company name with digits in it — every First name variable requires a fallback like "there" or "friend". You can't insert one without it, and Review checks again before every send — so Hi , can't reach a few hundred inboxes.
  • Preview as a real contact, or as the fallback — The preview has a new Preview as control: your own details as a Sample contact, the First audience contact from the campaign's Smart List, or No usable first name to see exactly what the fallback looks like. Send test asks the same question, so you can mail yourself either version.
  • Review lists what each variable will resolve to — The Content check now spells out every variable in the email and what contacts without a first name will see, and it blocks the send on a variable that can't resolve — a missing fallback, a typo'd name, or typed as plain text instead of inserted. When it's plain text in a text block, Review offers to convert it into a real variable for you.

Heads up

  • Variables only resolve in the body, subject, and preheader — They do not resolve in button labels, the header display name, or image alt text. A variable pasted into one of those would send exactly as written, so the editor now flags it on the block before you send.

New

  • Automations — Build a sequence once and let it run. Start it when someone completes a checkout (any product, or one specific product), or when a contact tag is added or removed, then chain steps: wait a set time, send an email, add or remove a tag, or grant or revoke access to a product. Drafts autosave while you build, and you activate, pause, or delete a sequence from the editor. Included on Growth (5 saved), Business (15), and unlimited on Pro and Scale — see Automations.
  • Grant and revoke product access from a sequence — An access step can enroll a contact in a course or community, or release a digital download or lead magnet, and revoke the same access later. Choose whether the usual access email goes out with the grant.
  • Community approval requests reach you — When someone asks to join a community that requires approval, you now get an email and an in-app notification with a link straight to the request, and the members list filters down to pending approvals.
  • Tag contacts during a CSV import — Pick a tag when you start an import and every contact in that file arrives already tagged, instead of tagging them all afterwards. See Audiences.

Improved

  • Sessions up to 8 hours — Appointment and event durations now go up to 8 hours instead of stopping at 2, so half- and full-day sessions are bookable. Long durations read as hours everywhere they appear: checkout, the slot summary, the customer's self-service page, confirmation emails, and calendar invites.
  • Tag changes that start an automation ask first — Adding or removing a tag that triggers a live sequence now confirms before it runs, in the customer list and on a customer's record, so a bulk tag change can't quietly enroll hundreds of contacts.

Fixed

  • Sender domain verification recovers instead of sticking — A domain that stalled or failed part-way through verification can be rechecked, and the DNS host guidance is clearer about exactly what to paste where.
  • Automation step edits are no longer thrown away — Editing a step after a failed autosave keeps your change, and the retry is reachable on a phone.
  • Bulk customer actions fit on a phone — the selection toolbar wraps instead of running off the edge of the screen.

Heads up

  • Buyers are added to your marketing contacts when their checkout is fulfilled — A completed purchase now counts as permission to market, recorded with the permission source "checkout or purchase". This is what makes the most obvious automation there is — trigger on a product checkout, then send an email — actually reach the buyer instead of skipping them. It only ever promotes someone who has never subscribed: an unsubscribe is never undone, and a suppressed address is never overridden. Two things aren't in place yet — the buyer isn't shown a separate opt-in at checkout, and you can't switch this off per store. Worth knowing before you build checkout-triggered sequences for a jurisdiction with strict consent rules.

New

  • Lesson resources — Attach downloadable files to any lesson — worksheets, slides, templates, anything. Students see them in a Resources card on the lesson page and download them from there. Add, rename, reorder, and remove them from the lesson editor, on desktop and on a phone.
  • Edit a product's URL from its editor — Product name and URL now sit together in a Product details card in every product editor's Settings, with the same live availability check as store URLs. Appointments had no URL control at all before this.
  • Custom button colors in marketing emails — Set the button color on an email instead of taking the default.

Improved

  • Rebuilt product editors — All seven product editors (course, digital download, lead magnet, membership, community checkout, event, appointment) now share one layout: a funnel rail down the left instead of a tab bar, and editor chrome folded into the app header, which makes the preview substantially taller. The device toggle's desktop view renders your real page rather than an approximation of it, and settings are proper forms on the canvas instead of a side panel.
  • Edit the checkout banner straight from the preview — Click the banner in the desktop preview to replace or remove the image right there. Every product type now behaves the same way: deleting asks first, and an error appears next to the control instead of as a toast in the corner.
  • Course content panel floats over its preview — more room for the preview while you work through chapters and lessons.

Fixed

  • Archived membership products stay visible to the customers who bought them — archiving one no longer drops it out of their portal or blanks out its benefits.
  • Digital downloads are billed for the bytes they actually stored — storage usage now reads the uploaded file's real size instead of the size the browser declared at the start of the upload.
  • Deleting a course chapter clears its lesson videos and thumbnails — those files used to linger and keep counting against your storage.
  • A lesson edit that fails to save now tells you — the editor used to swallow the error and get stuck.
  • Connecting Stripe — the payouts onboarding link opens reliably again.
  • A page that fails to load no longer bounces you back to it.

August 3, 2026

New

  • Email marketing — Set up a branded sender, organize consenting contacts with tags and Smart Lists, import contacts from CSV, build reusable templates, and send or schedule one-time campaigns. Campaign reports show delivery, clicks, unsubscribes, skipped recipients, and recipient-level results. Start with the Email marketing overview.

Improved

  • Refreshed creator app — The whole creator dashboard moved onto one design system. Surfaces, buttons, menus, dialogs, form fields, and toasts now match across the store editor, product editors, community management, appointments, customers, settings, onboarding, and the email builder — in both light and dark.
  • Email marketing on a phone — The tab strip stays visible, and the builder's panels, block rail, and preview are usable at phone width.
  • Email social icons match your storefront — the same icon set, including the official Threads logo.

July 28, 2026

Improved

  • Bigger image uploads — Every image upload now accepts up to 5 MB. Store avatars were capped at 1 MB, and product thumbnails, your profile picture, and customer profile pictures at 2 MB. See Storage limits.

Fixed

  • Auto top-up works on short screens and stale cards — the setup dialog scrolls properly, and a saved card whose setup had expired is refreshed instead of failing when the top-up runs.
  • Event reminders survive a deleted event — reminders for an event you've since deleted no longer fail on the way out.

July 17, 2026

New

  • Choose your store currency — Workspace settings → Payments now lets you set the workspace currency to USD, AUD, CAD, EUR, or GBP. Klixey initializes it once from your Stripe payout account when that currency is supported, and a change updates the workspace, its products, and their active prices together. Amounts aren't converted — a USD 97.00 price becomes AUD 97.00, not the exchange-rate equivalent. Changes are locked briefly while a paid checkout is in progress. See Currencies.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay at checkout — the embedded payment form now offers them on devices that support them.
  • Full payments list in Billing — Billing now lists every platform payment — wallet top-ups, auto top-ups, and lifetime purchases — each with its own receipt link, paginated alongside recent activity. Lifetime-only and lapsed subscribers can see the card at all now. See Managing your plan.

Improved

  • Automatic cover for uploaded course videos — an uploaded video now gets a cover frame picked for it instead of a blank thumbnail.
  • Clearer discount errors at checkout — a rejected code says why it was rejected rather than failing generically, and a fixed-amount discount that's larger than the items it applies to now says exactly that. See Discount codes.
  • The customer search field is properly labelled — browsers and screen readers can identify it.

Fixed

  • Checkout selections clear after a payment error — coming back from a failed payment no longer leaves stale order-bump selections sitting in the review step.

July 6, 2026

New

  • Audio lessons — Upload an audio file (MP3, M4A, AAC, or WAV) as a lesson's media instead of a video, and students get a waveform player rather than a black video frame. Video and audio share one drop field in the lesson editor, with paste-a-link still available as a fallback. See Course videos.

Fixed

  • Meeting links in booking and event emails are complete and clickable — Zoom, Meet, Teams, and Webex links were being cut off mid-URL and printed as plain text, so customers couldn't reach the call. They're now full, labelled, clickable links, and physical addresses are no longer clipped either.

July 1, 2026

New

  • CloudFront video URLs for courses — Alongside uploading a file or embedding from YouTube, Vimeo, or Loom, you can now paste a direct CloudFront MP4 URL as a course welcome or lesson video. See Course videos.

Improved

  • Drag-and-drop cover images — Drag an image straight onto the cover picker to set it as a course video's cover; it's resized for you automatically.
  • Remove a cover image — Clear a video's cover back to the default thumbnail with one click, instead of only being able to replace it.

Fixed

  • Course video cover images no longer disappear on autosave — editing other parts of a lesson could previously wipe its video's cover image.
  • Links in course and community rich text now save reliably — some links could previously fail to save silently.

June 26, 2026

New

  • Embed YouTube, Vimeo & Loom videos in courses — Alongside uploading your own file, you can now paste a YouTube, Vimeo, or Loom link as a course welcome video or lesson video. The video plays right inside the lesson, the same as an uploaded one. See Course videos.
  • Cover images for course videos — Choose a still frame from your video, or upload your own image, to use as its cover. The cover shows as a click-to-play thumbnail on the course welcome screen and lesson pages — for both uploaded and embedded videos. Works for the welcome video and every lesson.

Improved

  • Rebuilt course video editor — The welcome and lesson video block is now a single Upload / Embed control with an inline preview and the new cover picker, and it's fully usable on phones through the mobile edit sheet.
  • Responsive product editor — Product editor panels resize cleanly on smaller screens and include a phone preview, so you can edit and preview your product pages from a phone.

June 22, 2026

New

  • New one-page setup wizard — Signing up now walks you through one continuous wizard instead of a two-page setup: your name and what you sell, your store name and link, an optional photo, and optional social links — with a live preview of your actual storefront building as you go.
  • Starter store matches what you sell — The sample product Klixey creates for you now matches the category you picked (a course, a booking, a community, and so on) instead of one generic placeholder, plus a ready-to-edit "add your links" card.
  • "Finish your store" checklist — A dismissible checklist on your dashboard tracks five setup steps: store created, photo added, first product, payments connected, and your link shared.

Improved

  • Store editor renamed to "Store Settings" — The button that opens store identity, brand, social links, sharing, and domain settings (previously "Edit Appearance") is now labeled Store Settings, since it covers more than appearance.
  • Clearer welcome greeting — Onboarding now greets you by first name instead of your full name.
  • Default price button — Clearer visual feedback and better accessibility when choosing a product's default price.

June 12, 2026

New

  • Order bumps & discount codes — Offer one-time add-on products on a paid product's checkout (up to 10 per product, each with your own headline and description), and create store-wide or product-specific discount codes that customers apply at checkout. One-time paid checkout only — subscriptions and free products are unchanged.
  • Custom storefront favicon — On custom-domain plans, upload your own browser icon from store settings. It shows on your storefront, customer portal, checkout, and coming-soon pages in place of the Klixey icon.

Improved

  • Branded checkout form — The embedded payment form now matches your storefront brand: display name, button color, card background, font, and corner style.
  • Consistent checkout theming — Checkout, plan selection, event slots, appointment calendars, and time pickers now share one brand-driven theme, so everything stays readable on dark, light, and custom brand settings.
  • Store name in the browser tab — Public storefronts now show your store name in the browser tab (using your SEO title, falling back to the store name), branded per plan.
  • Clearer upload errors — Failed image, video, and file uploads now show the real reason (file too large, wrong dimensions, storage limit, corrupt file) instead of a generic failure, and a failed replacement no longer wipes your existing banner.
  • Deliberate slug saving — Store and product URLs are now saved explicitly with a live availability check, instead of changing as you type.

June 5, 2026

New

  • New customer notifications — You now get an email when a customer gains access to one of your products. Sent for paid purchases, free signups, and trial starts on courses, communities, memberships, and digital downloads. Includes the customer's name, email, the product they got, and a link straight to their record in your dashboard. Appointments and event signups continue to use their existing notifications.
  • Edit community resources — Update a resource's title, description, and category after creating it, and switch a paid resource to free.
  • Card style & text color controls — New Theme controls in the Store editor: card style (Flat / Auto-tint / Custom) and text color (Auto / Light / Dark / Custom).

Improved

  • Mobile creator app — The app header, Store editor, and community management are now usable on phones: tab strips, touch-sized buttons, working drag-and-drop, and reachable settings.
  • Branded customer emails — Customer emails now carry your store's logo, a link to your site, and store-branded headers and footers.

How to read an entry

Each entry is dated. Inside, changes are grouped into four buckets:

  • New — features you didn't have last month.
  • Improved — things that already worked but work better now.
  • Fixed — bugs we squashed.
  • Heads up — things that might affect existing setups (this is where breaking changes appear).

We don't ship daily release notes — small fixes accumulate into a weekly summary.

  • Status — current uptime, incidents, and scheduled maintenance.
  • FAQ — answers to common questions.
  • Plans — what's included in your plan today.

Template

The shape every monthly entry follows. (Internal note — keep this section at the bottom of the page.)

Month D, YYYY

Breaking change

(Only include this callout when a change affects existing creators' setups. Otherwise delete.)

New

  • Feature one — what it is, who it's for, link to the relevant guide.
  • Feature two — same shape.

Improved

  • A short, plain-English sentence about what got better. No internals.

Fixed

  • One line per bug. Lead with the symptom, not the cause.

Heads up

  • Anything users should know about (pricing changes, plan limit adjustments, deprecated features, behaviour changes).
