Currencies
Quick answer
Klixey supports USD, AUD, CAD, EUR, and GBP. Each workspace has one store currency for its current catalog, checkout, and sales reporting.
Supported currencies
| Code | Currency | Symbol |
|---|---|---|
| USD | US Dollar | $ |
| AUD | Australian Dollar | A$ |
| CAD | Canadian Dollar | CA$ |
| EUR | Euro | € |
| GBP | British Pound | £ |
You can manually choose any of these currencies in Workspace settings -> Payments. Other currencies are not available for product pricing yet.
How your currency is first set
The first time you connect a Stripe payout account, Klixey can initialize the workspace from Stripe's default currency when it is one of the five supported choices. This happens only once. Reconnecting Stripe later does not overwrite a currency that has already been initialized or manually selected.
If Stripe reports an unsupported default currency, the connection can still complete, but you must choose USD, AUD, CAD, EUR, or GBP before adding paid prices or fixed-amount discounts.
Changing your store currency
A currency change is global for the workspace. It updates the workspace, all current products, and their active local price records to the selected code. New products and prices then use that same currency automatically; there is no independent currency selector on a product or price.
The numeric amounts do not change. For example, changing a USD 97.00 price to AUD produces AUD 97.00, not the exchange-rate value of USD 97. Klixey does not perform foreign-exchange conversion or apply an exchange rate during this change.
Archived prices and financial history keep their recorded currency. They are historical records and are not made sellable by a workspace currency change.
When a change is locked
Klixey temporarily prevents a currency change while a paid checkout is in progress:
- A checkout that has started locally holds the currency until its Checkout Session expires.
- A checkout being confirmed by Stripe holds the currency until Stripe records a final completed, failed, or expired status. Its timestamp alone does not release the lock.
The store currency becomes permanently locked after paid commerce starts. A paid payment in the workspace, any customer subscription, or an active Stripe Price prevents later currency changes. This protects existing charges, renewals, and provider-side prices from becoming inconsistent with the current catalog.
Fixed-amount discounts
Percentage discounts work with every supported store currency because they do not contain a currency amount.
A fixed-amount discount does contain a currency. You can change the workspace only to a currency already compatible with every current fixed-amount discount. Remove incompatible fixed discounts before choosing a different target currency. The change does not convert or rewrite their amounts.
What customers and creators see
Customer-facing prices and reporting totals include both a recognizable symbol and the ISO code. For example, an AUD amount appears as A$97.00 AUD, while USD appears as $97.00 USD.
Creator catalog rows use ISO-first formatting such as AUD 97.00. Amount fields keep labels such as Amount (AUD) and show a matching symbol prefix such as A$. Free prices remain Free, and recurring prices keep their interval suffix.
These formats use consistent punctuation so the currency identity is never ambiguous. Klixey platform plan billing is separate from store commerce and may use a different currency.
Cards, payouts, and refunds
Customers can use cards issued in currencies other than your store currency. Their card issuer or bank decides whether to convert the charge and which rate or fee applies. Klixey does not add an exchange-rate conversion to your catalog amount.
The Income page reports completed sales in the workspace's store currency. It is a sales report, not a bank payout or foreign-exchange statement.
Refunds use the original purchase currency. Recorded payments and subscriptions are never re-denominated after the fact.
If a currency choice is required
Open Workspace settings -> Payments and select one of the supported currencies. Paid-price and fixed-amount-discount creation remain unavailable until the workspace currency is initialized.
If the setting is locked, the Payments page explains whether an active checkout is temporary or whether paid history, a subscription, or an active Stripe Price has made the lock permanent. If the displayed state does not match your records, contact support@klixey.com with the workspace and relevant order details.
