Onboarding — your first store
Right after signup, Klixey runs a short wizard that creates your workspace and your first store together. It's one continuous flow — no separate pages to submit — and it takes about two minutes.
Quick answer
The wizard asks a few quick questions: your name and what you'll mainly sell, your store name and link, an optional photo, and optional social links. A live preview on the right builds your actual storefront as you answer. Finish it and Klixey creates your store, a starter product that matches what you sell, and drops you straight into the populated store editor.
What gets created
When you finish the wizard, Klixey sets up:
- A workspace — the container for your business (billing, team, plan, brand). It's named after your store and renameable anytime from Workspace Settings.
- A store — your storefront at
klixey.com/your-slug. - A default brand — colors, card treatment, text settings, and fonts you can change anytime.
- A starter product that matches what you told the wizard you sell — a course, a booking, a community, or a digital download — plus an "add your links" card, so you have something real to edit instead of a blank canvas.
Nothing is precious. You can edit, rename, or replace any of it later.
The steps
Welcome
A short intro screen. Click Let's go to start.
Step 1: Basics
- Your name — prefilled from your account; edit it if you'd like a different display name.
- What will you mainly sell? — pick one: Courses, Coaching, Memberships, Bookings, Other, or Not sure yet. This decides the type of starter product Klixey builds for you (a course, a booking, a community, and so on) — the live preview on the right updates to show it.
Step 2: Name your store
- Store name — what shows at the top of your storefront.
- Store link — the URL part. Your store will live at
klixey.com/your-slug. Klixey checks availability live as you type and suggests alternatives if it's taken. - Tagline (optional) — a short line under your name.
You can change your link later — with a catch
Slugs are renameable from Store Settings. When you rename, Klixey keeps the old slug working with an automatic redirect for about a year, so links in emails and social posts don't break. There's a limit of 5 old slugs per store, though, so it pays to pick something durable. See Renaming slugs without breaking links.
Some advice on picking a store link:
- Brandable, not descriptive.
mira-johnsonages better thancoaching-2026. - Short. It goes in your bio, your emails, and on your business cards.
- Avoid years, launches, prices. They change. The link shouldn't.
Step 3: Add your photo
Optional. Upload a JPG, PNG, GIF, or WebP (up to 2 MB) and crop it to fit. Skip this and add it later from Settings if you'd rather not decide now.
Step 4: Add your links
Optional. Add Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or your website. Skip any (or all) and add them later.
Click Create my store to finish. Klixey builds everything and lands you on your populated store editor.
The live preview
As you move through the wizard, the panel on the right shows a real, live preview of your storefront — your name, photo, tagline, links, and starter product update as you fill them in. On phones, a collapsed preview bar sits at the bottom of the screen; tap it to expand the full preview.
If you didn't finish
Nothing is created until you complete the wizard — there's no halfway state. If you close the tab partway through, sign back in at app.klixey.com and Klixey sends you back to the start of the wizard (your name will still be prefilled, but earlier answers aren't saved).
What happens next
You land on your dashboard and store editor. From here:
- A dismissible "finish your store" checklist on your dashboard tracks five setup steps: store created, photo added, first product, payments connected, and your link shared.
- Open Store in the sidebar to edit your storefront and product cards via Store Settings.
- Open Products to view the starter product (and create real ones).
- Open Workspace Settings to change your brand, invite team members, or connect a custom domain.
- Open Account to update your personal profile.
A note on personal vs workspace
The wizard creates your workspace — the business side. Your personal account (your name, email, password, photo) is what you signed up with. The two are kept separate by design. See Personal vs Workspace Settings — this is the #1 source of confusion for new creators.
