Storage limits
Quick answer
Your plan sets your total storage allowance. Each individual upload also has its own size cap depending on what it is — videos go up to 500 MB, downloadable files up to 1 GB, images up to 5 MB. Uploads that exceed either limit are rejected before they start.
Plan-level storage caps
Your total storage (videos + images + downloadable files combined, across the whole workspace) is set by your plan:
| Plan | Total storage |
|---|---|
| Starter | 5 GB |
| Growth | 25 GB |
| Business | 80 GB |
| Pro | Unlimited |
| Scale | Unlimited |
Full plan breakdown: Plans.
Unlimited isn't "infinite"
Pro and Scale don't enforce a total cap on your workspace. We do still ask that you use storage in line with running a normal business — uploading hundreds of gigabytes of unused archive footage isn't what either tier is for. If your usage stands out, we'll reach out.
Per-file limits
These limits apply to every upload regardless of which plan you're on. They protect both the upload (large files fail to upload on slow connections) and your storefront's load speed.
Videos
| Upload | Max size | Allowed formats |
|---|---|---|
| Course welcome video | 500 MB | MP4, MOV, WebM |
| Course lesson video | 500 MB | MP4, MOV, WebM |
| Community post video | 500 MB | MP4, MOV, WebM |
A typical 720p talking-head video is well under 500 MB. If your file is bigger, you usually want to compress it first — Handbrake and CapCut both have one-click "web upload" presets that work well.
Images
| Upload | Max size | Allowed formats | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Store avatar / your profile picture | 1 MB | JPG, PNG, GIF | 100×100 to 2000×2000 pixels |
| Product thumbnail | 2 MB | JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP | 100×100 to 2000×2000 pixels |
| Account profile picture | 2 MB | JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP | 100×100 to 2000×2000 pixels |
| Customer profile picture | 2 MB | JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP | 100×100 to 2000×2000 pixels |
| Course banner | 5 MB | JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP | 400×200 to 4000×2500 pixels |
| Appointment banner | 5 MB | JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP | 400×200 to 4000×2500 pixels |
| Membership banner | 5 MB | JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP | 400×200 to 4000×2500 pixels |
| Digital download banner | 5 MB | JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP | 400×200 to 4000×2500 pixels |
| Community banner | 5 MB | JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP | 400×200 to 4000×2500 pixels |
| Community post image | 5 MB | JPG, PNG, GIF | Up to 4000×4000 pixels (up to 10 per post) |
Images get a once-over on upload — we strip out hidden metadata (camera location, device info), resize anything oversized, and re-save them in a web-friendly format. Your original is replaced with the cleaned-up version.
Downloadable files (digital downloads)
| Upload | Max size | Allowed formats |
|---|---|---|
| Digital download file | 1 GB | PDF, Word, Excel, PSD, MP4, MOV, ZIP, RAR, 7z |
Each digital download product can have one file. If you have a bigger bundle, zip it. If you have something bigger than 1 GB, consider hosting it externally and using a Link product type instead.
Community files
| Upload | Max size | Allowed formats |
|---|---|---|
| Community resource | 10 MB | PDF, Word, plain text, images |
For larger community files, you can attach a YouTube video or an external link instead — those don't count toward storage.
What counts toward your total
| Counts | Doesn't count |
|---|---|
| Course and lesson videos | YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, or CloudFront videos you embed |
| Community post videos and images | External links you share in posts |
| Downloadable product files | Customer-uploaded community avatars (kept lean by us) |
| Banners (course, appointment, membership, digital download, community) | Text content (descriptions, lesson copy, posts) |
| Store and product thumbnails | Categories, tags, and other metadata |
You can see your current usage on your billing page — a per-workspace bar shows how much of your storage you've used.
When you hit the limit
If an upload would push you past your plan's total, Klixey rejects it before the file starts uploading — so you don't waste time waiting for a 500 MB video to finish before being told there's no room.
You'll see a message that explains:
- How much storage your plan includes.
- How much you're currently using.
- How much the new upload would add.
To make room, you can:
- Delete content you don't need. Old draft videos, unused banners, retired course modules.
- Use external links. YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, or a CloudFront URL for video, an outbound URL for downloads.
- Upgrade your plan. Higher tiers add room; Pro and Scale remove the cap entirely.
If you hit a per-file limit (e.g. a 700 MB video), compressing the file or splitting it into shorter lessons is usually the right move. There's no way to override an individual file cap.
Cleanup is automatic
If you start an upload and abandon it (close the tab, lose connection), the partial file is cleaned up for you within a few hours — it doesn't stay parked against your storage.
Deleting a product, lesson, or post frees up its storage straight away. The numbers on your billing page update on the next visit.
