Building a membership bundle
A Membership is a subscription that bundles your other products under a single price. Customers pay you on a recurring schedule and get access to everything in the bundle for as long as they're subscribed. Think of it as your "everything pass" — one purchase, many things unlocked.
Quick answer
Open Products → + Add product, pick Membership, and you land in the Membership Editor. In Settings → Bundled products, tick the courses, communities, and digital downloads you want to include (up to 20). Write the Access instructions that customers see after they subscribe. Upload a banner. Set your pricing. Publish.
What a membership is
A membership doesn't sell content by itself — it sells access to a bundle of products you've already built. You pick what's inside, you set one price, and customers get the whole pack the moment they subscribe.
Common shapes:
- One subscription, three signature products. Your flagship course + your members-only community + your template library.
- Tiered "everything pass." Every course you've ever made, bundled.
- Community + bonus library. A community at the heart, with downloads as the value-add.
Memberships are sold as recurring subscriptions (monthly, annual, or any interval you offer). Lifetime pricing also works if you want a one-time-pay version.
What you can bundle
You can include up to 20 items in a membership, drawn from these product types:
- Courses — every lesson, video, and module inside.
- Communities — full access to the feed, channels, members, leaderboard, and resources.
- Digital downloads — the file (or external link) and any redelivery emails.
What you can't bundle:
| Why | |
|---|---|
| Appointments | Booking your 1-on-1 time stays a separate purchase. Bundling unlimited bookings into a membership creates impossible scheduling problems. |
| Events | Live group events stay separately bookable so capacity stays controllable per slot. |
| Lead magnets | Already free — no reason to bundle them. |
| Other memberships | You can't nest a membership inside another membership. |
| Link products | A storefront link isn't something that gets "unlocked" by access. |
If you want a customer to also get a discount on appointments or events, build that as a separate offer — don't try to fit it into the bundle.
Opening the Membership Editor
From Products in the sidebar, click your membership. The editor opens with three tabs:
| Tab | What you do here |
|---|---|
| Setup | The headline fields — title, description, banner, and the live preview of the buy page. |
| Confirmation | The post-purchase page and confirmation email copy. |
| Settings | Bundled products, access instructions, and pricing. |
Most of the bundle work happens in Settings. Setup is for branding the offer; Confirmation is for fine-tuning what customers see after they pay.
Picking the bundled products
In Settings, open the Bundled products panel. You'll see a search-and-filter list of every product in your workspace that's eligible to be bundled:
- A search box to find a product by name.
- Filters by product type (Course, Community, Digital download).
- A check next to each one to include or exclude it.
Tick the products you want and Klixey saves the selection as you go. Untick to remove.
The 20-item cap
A membership can include up to 20 products. The cap is on the bundle, not on customers — your membership can have unlimited subscribers. If you have a vast catalog, group it. A handful of well-chosen products usually sells better than 20.
Adding and removing products affects existing members
If you add a product to a bundle, every current member gets access to it immediately. If you remove one, members lose access to it right away. Tell your members before you change the bundle — most are paying you for the current contents. See Membership access for the access lifecycle.
Access instructions
A free-text field (up to 5,000 characters) where you write the "how to use this membership" message. It shows up in two places:
- The post-purchase confirmation email members receive when they subscribe.
- The customer portal's membership page, under Additional benefits, on each member's personal view.
This is the place for anything that doesn't fit into the bundled products themselves. Examples:
- "Office hours run Tuesdays at 2pm Eastern. Drop a question in the community and I'll cover it then."
- "For the bonus 1-on-1 audit, email me at hello@... with the subject 'audit'."
- "The deeper-dive workshops happen the first Friday of every month — invites land in the community."
The field accepts plain prose. Write it like you're emailing a single member.
Membership banner
A wide image (16:9) shown at the top of:
- The buy page on your storefront.
- The membership detail page in each member's portal.
Upload JPEG, PNG, GIF, or WebP up to 5 MB. Klixey resizes it for you — upload at whatever resolution you have. The banner counts toward your workspace storage (see Storage usage).
If you skip the banner, the buy page falls back to your store's default styling.
Pricing
The pricing panel is the same one every product uses. Memberships work best as recurring subscriptions — monthly, quarterly, or annual — but you can also offer:
- Multiple billing intervals on the same membership. Customers pick monthly or annual at checkout.
- A free trial in days. Members get full bundle access during the trial; the first charge happens when the trial ends.
- A lifetime price alongside the recurring tiers, for customers who want to pay once.
→ Pricing your products has the full walkthrough.
Live preview
As you edit, the buy-page preview and confirmation preview update in real time - the bundle contents, the pricing, the trial info, the access instructions all reflect what customers will see. Use the preview to check the page, then edit the matching field in the panel.
→ Store editor covers the broader live-preview pattern.
Confirmation page and emails
The Confirmation tab controls what members see after they subscribe and what's in the welcome email. By default, both list the bundled products with direct links, plus your access instructions.
You can rewrite the headline and description on the Confirmation tab. The bundled-products list and the access instructions section are always included automatically — you don't need to repeat them in the copy.
For the full picture of what customers receive after purchase, see Post-purchase experience.
Autosave
Every field saves as you type or as you toggle the checkboxes. There's no Save button. The indicator next to each field shows when your latest change has landed. See Autosave.
Who on your team can edit a membership?
Anyone with Owner, Admin, or Editor can build a membership and manage the bundle. Viewers can see the editor but can't change anything. See Roles & permissions.
Tips
- Less is more in the bundle. Three or four well-chosen products feel more valuable than 15 random ones. Cut what doesn't strengthen the offer.
- Write the access instructions as if you're explaining the membership to one person. That's how it reads in the email — first-person, specific, friendly.
- Get the bundle settled before you publish. Adding to it later is fine; subtracting is the awkward conversation. Decide what's in before you sell.
- Pair memberships with a community. The community is often the bit that keeps members engaged month over month. The other products are reasons to join; the community is the reason to stay.
