In-app notifications

The bell icon in your sidebar is your in-app inbox. It catches activity that happened in your workspace — comments, new community posts, team members joining — so you don't have to live in your email to keep up.

Quick answer

Click the bell in the sidebar (or the mobile nav drawer on phones) to see recent activity. A blue dot marks unread items; the badge on the bell shows the unread count. Click any notification to jump to the thing it's about — it'll mark itself read.

Where the bell is

The notification bell sits in the sidebar of the creator app:

  • Desktop — top of the left sidebar, just below your workspace name.
  • Mobile — inside the mobile nav drawer (tap the menu icon to open it).

It's the same bell on every page — Dashboard, Store, Income, Customers, anywhere — so you can catch alerts without leaving what you're doing.

The unread badge

A small numbered badge appears on the bell whenever you have unread notifications. The number reflects how many you haven't read yet. The badge clears as soon as you've read everything — either one by one, or all at once.

What each notification looks like

Click the bell and you'll see a dropdown list. Each row carries:

  • An avatar — of the customer or team member who triggered it, or a workspace icon for system events.
  • A short message — "Sarah commented on your post", "Tom joined the workspace".
  • A relative time — "2 minutes ago", "yesterday", "last week".
  • A blue dot on the left when the item is still unread.

What you'll get notified about

The notifications you'll actually see in the bell:

TriggerWhat you see
A customer creates a new community post"{customer name} posted in {community}"
A customer comments on a post"{customer name} commented on '{post title}'"
A customer replies to another comment"{customer name} replied to {original commenter}"
A team member accepts an invite and joins"{new member} joined the workspace"
A customer requests to join an approval-gated community"{customer name} requested to join {community}"

For new appointment bookings, event signups, and other customer-purchase events, the in-app bell isn't where you'll find them — those come through as email. See Emails you receive for the full picture.

Clicking a notification

Click any row and Klixey takes you straight to the source — the post, the comment thread, the customer's profile, the team settings page. You don't have to hunt for it.

The notification stays in your inbox after you click (so you can refer back to it), but the unread badge clears immediately.

Marking as read

Two ways to clear notifications:

  • One at a time — click the notification (which both opens the source and marks it read), or just tap the unread dot.
  • All at once — there's a Mark all as read link at the top of the dropdown. One tap clears every unread item.

If you've been away for a while and your inbox is busy, "Mark all as read" is the fastest way to reset.

Who gets which notifications

Notifications fan out by role:

  • Workspace-level events (a new team member joining, a customer requesting to join a community) go to Owners and Admins.
  • Community events (new posts, comments, replies) go to community admins and moderators for that community. Comments on a specific post also notify the post author.
  • Team invite emails go to the person being invited (not the bell — they don't have an account yet).

If a notification doesn't show up where you expect, check your role in the workspace — that's the usual culprit.

Bell vs email

Most notifications fire on both channels — you'll see a bell entry and get an email. The bell is your fast-glance inbox while you're in the app; email is the archived, slower copy that follows you when you're not.

For the complete list of emails Klixey sends you, see Emails you receive and the full creator email reference.

Payment notifications don't come through here

Receipts, invoices, and payment-failure notices come straight from your payment provider — not from Klixey. So the bell stays focused on workspace activity, not billing.

On mobile

The bell behaves the same way on phones — it lives in the mobile nav drawer. Tap the menu icon (top-left), and you'll find the bell at the top of the panel. Everything else is identical: same badge, same dropdown, same actions. See Mobile navigation on Klixey for the full mobile layout.
